I don't know anything about Girl Scouts
We have resources that do a great job of teaching the basic Girl Scout values and processes. There is no right or wrong way to run a troop. You won't be alone on this journey. Your service unit has amazing volunteers who are supportive of each other.
i don't like crafts/i'm not very outdoorsy
Good news! There are no rules saying you must be creative or artsy or campy. That is the great thing about Girl Scouts; we all share our abilities to help one another. You can tap into the other parents in your troop so everyone contributes their skills. There are also many opportunities in our council and service unit for girls to explore on their own.
what is the time commitment for running a troop?
The amount of time you spend on your troop is up to you. Most of our leaders work full time. As the leader, you get to set the time, location, and frequency of the meetings to fit your family's schedule. You can delegate jobs to other parents in your troop as well so you are not doing everything.
I want to be a leader! NOw what?
Congratulations on making a wonderful decision! Below you will find all the steps you need to follow to help you in this venture. Remember, your service unit is always there to help you.
